TRANQUILIDAD new abstract paintings

TRANQUILIDAD new abstract paintings

It is a series of artistic, plastic feelings of peace, harmony, reconciliation, also respite, sensitization, in an abstract message. Ambiguous ambiguity. Contradiction and lack thereof. Solace and persuading invitation to contemplate, to enterprise a transcendent sailing through the artistic ideas of calm and dreamy. An invitation to sail for relief, but not mindless relief. The choice of form and colors tunes rather towards thoughts, but thoughts that are gentle, softened, shifting the viewer from the outside world, into metaphysical creations, into unknowability, the impenetrability of perfect peace. A peace beyond knowledge that escapes human experience, incites meditation.

In new abstract paintings, there is no sharpness or clarity in these images. Nothing, seemingly, is imposed, although Astner juggles and plays with contrasts. Contrasts with no clear contours, no borders. Hence the symbolic wave of edges, roundness and softness, even the ingratiation of forms. Forms tempting, inviting, sensual, open to any game of imagination.

There are no great effects in these new abstract paintings, which should be written in favor of the artist, because he allows free interpretation of his compositions, that are, after all well and precisely targeted. TRANQUILIDAD is a starting point for purely emotional considerations. There are no ready hints and clear pictures. The concentration of color and form allows to restore the balance of thinking and eliminate superficial feelings. Time and space collapse in the viewer’s consciousness. He looks more closely at the details he did not pay attention to before. Ties them all into an indescribable whole.

Calm is the dominant feeling in the perception of Astner’s paintings. The viewer opens to a transcendental experience, a world of peace that can be described more easily with artistic imagination than with words. And Astner succeeds in it  perfectly in this new abstract paintings.
